Plans On How To Make An Electric Toy Boat

RAON-LES-LEAU (54) - Roman Road Forest Roule-Bacon

On the heights of the small village of Raon-les-Leau, it can take a walk, taking a great Roman road that winds through the forest Roule-Bacon, belonging to the Massif du Donon . Built some 2000 years, this route allowed to connect major cities Gallo-Roman (Langres in Strasbourg, via Tarquimpol). It is identified as the "Road to Germany" that once linked to Alsace Lorraine.

Way allowed the movement of people and goods. Thus, the Roman legions could well join the faster, the places where they were supposed to go. Trade intensity, including the salt trade from Saulnois (you can read my article on salt and clerics in the Middle Ages: http://patrimoine-de-lorraine.blogspot.com/2010/12 / the-church-and-the-salt-en.html ), inevitably involved the use of this roadway.

Thus, over a mile, the path consisting Vosges sandstone slabs, is clearly visible. The beginning of the ancient pavement (after refuge Roule-Bacon) is almost completely preserved (about 200 meters) then it becomes increasingly degraded, leaving the vegetation. We may especially notice the remnants of ruts worn by traffic tanks and other trucks having borrowed the Roman road.

Place to discover ...
