College Party Farewell

Hammeville (54) - The Chapel of St. Libaire

To find the Chapel of St. Libaire, simply leave the road Vézelise heading towards Colombey-les-Belles. Thus, shortly after leaving the town, turn right towards the village to discover Hammeville, 400 yards, sandwiched between the road and fields.

In rural setting surrounded by some trees that the modest Chapel of St. Libaire Hammeville welcomes us.

Historical

What is known about the tone of his story? In 1785, Madeleine Saints, built the chapel in honor of her late husband Leopold Huin. The dedication was assigned to St. Libaire, holy martyr who was killed in Grand (Vosges) by beheading in 362.

In 1857, the chapel, then ailing, was entrusted to the factory Hammeville to the order to restore and maintain the building.

June 9, 1858, the chapel is restored and blessed. The faithful could then return to this little shrine to pray.

In 1975, a new restoration was decided upon and carried.

architecture

The architectural elements are largely drawn from the Gothic architecture of the late fifteenth and early sixteenth century, just look at the gate facade and the two bays trilobe lintel on the sides of the nave of the chapel.
